The National Science Foundation S-STEM Program addresses the need for a high quality workforce in STEM disciplines by funding university programs designed to increase the success of academically talented students with demonstrated financial need who are pursuing degrees in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM).

Scholarship Criteria
- Eligible Major(s): All Engineering Majors
- Family income reported through the 2023 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) must demonstrate the student is eligible for a Federal Pell Grant
- Freshman
- Full Time
- U.S. citizen or U.S. permanent resident
- Applicants must have completed at least a pre-calculus course in high school, and be eligible to enroll in college calculus during the first semester at UNC Charlotte
- Scholarship applicants who are selected as finalists will be contacted for brief interviews with members of the selection committee
- Eligibility for this scholarship is based on merit and need. Applicants must demonstrate unmet financial need in excess of $5,000
